Question GC Brakes

Has anyone used the rotors, pads etc from the aftermarket people. There are several aftermarket brake mfg that say they can cure the poor brakes of the GC. For example, EBC makes rotors, pads, etc as well as Stainless Steel brake co. and Wilwood $$$$$, and even Raybestos makes drilled slotted rotors and better pads. Has anyone used these, and how did you like them?

Re: GC Brakes

If it is a 99-2002 grand it is likely the calipers not the brake parts that are the issue. There is a tsb out where we have been replacing calipers pads and rotors for warped rotors it seems the calipers dont always fully release therfore causing extra heat that warps the rotors, resurfacing or replacing pads and rotors wont help if this is the cause.

Re: GC Brakes

This is a 98 GC. The Brakes on my sisters, and ours are equally bad. Looks like EBC gets about $800 for drilled/slotted rotors, and pads. Stillen is $3000 for thier set up. I don't have a response from Stainless Steel Brake yet. Raybestos sells a slotted drilled rotor for the front, but nothing for the back.

Re: GC Brakes

You can get the Mopar Updated Calipers, pads, and rotors to fix this problem. The price for all the parts is about 300. I hope this helps

Brake Rotors

There are several different rotors out there. Stillen recommends the crossdrilled rotore to dissapate heat, since heat is the cause of the warpage in the first place. You can go to www.stillen.com The price of the rotors is 196.00 per set, and another 100 dollars for the pads. They said that they see a lot of jeep GC problems, and the keep these pard and rotors in stock.
