maybe buyin max....

ya i just wanna know if there any concerns of maximas that i should b aware of.
also im thinkin of getting the 2k1 max, prob wit the 3.0, dont really want a 3.5.

BUT

however, i am contemplating getting a 3.5 altima, prob the 2k2 one, since it is cheaper than the 2k2/3.5 max, EVEn though they r basically the same rite?

any input thx.

2k2 and 2k3 Maxima's are better looking than the Altima's and have a better interior and better handling, IMO.

Maxima engines are bullet-proof. O2 sensors and whatnot are the most you should be worried about.

for the most part you don't have to worry about a maxima. especially the newer ones. they are very dependable cars. after all they are japanese.

true, im tryin to convince my dad to get a 2k maxima , i'd prefer under 100,000 km (miles?) and like go as high as pay like 15g's cnd. (us $?)
any good arguements i can use so he'd go for it instead of like a 2k regal or something for like 10gs cdn.

maxima is absoultely the way to go...i really am not too fond of the 00, 01 though...the power to weight ratio is actually worse than that of the 95-99, with an emphasis on horsepower rather than low end torque...so off the line acceleration is actually not as good as it was previously. why not got for a used 02 se 6sp?...0-60 in 6 flat, good handling, killer bose system...reliable as an accord. either way, you cant go wrong with any maxima.

more reliable, w/ more power. a better overall deal. dont forget to mention that the maxima has won numerous awards for many different things. Top 10 Engines for like 6 years in a row, (maybe more) etc. etc.

Re: maybe buyin max....

To tell you the truth, out of all of those, I would go for the 3.5 Altima. Sure, a 2k Max looks a little better, but the 3.5 is seriously way sweeter than the 3.0. Believe me, my family has had 3 different 3.0 VQ's, and they don't compare to the 3.5. Definitely worth the slight downgrade in looks.

the 3.5's go like this....

2002 altima - 3.5vq - 240hp
2003 altima - 3.5vq - 245hp

2002, 03 maxima - 3.5 vq - 255hp

so yeah...the 2k2's were the first maxima to get the 3.5 liter BEAST of a motor

as far as naturally aspirated 6's...the VQ is the best on the market aside from BMW's 3.3 liter 333hp straight 6. great horsepower, great torque, great motor.

You could go with the Altima, it has the newer look and newer
platform, same as the new Maxima. The Altima has slightly better
braking and handling. The 01 Maxima will prolly cost alot lower.
You cant go wrong with either car.
