Knock Sensor and C.E.L.

is it true that the knock sensor part alone costs around $500? Any input would be great. Also, what should I expect to pay as far as labor costs (in hours).
Thanks
Louis

Re: Knock Sensor and C.E.L.

$120 shipped at www.jerryromenissan.com when you use the discount code "MAXIMA"

I had a dealership quote me $65 to install it (half hour of labor). Don't get ripped off.

Use Jerry Rome, I bought mine last week, great service!! And don't have somebody install it, it's not really that hard, you will end up with cut up bleeding hands though! But trust me with your cut-up hands it will all be worth it in the end!

Re: Knock Sensor and C.E.L.

It's a sensor with a crystal piezo element that's designed to notify the ECU of predetonation. The piezo element responds only to a certain frequency that's created when predetonation occurs.

is it worth fixing?

iv had a CEL for the knock sensor for some time now. I use 93-95 octane unleaded. Do any of you think it puts the ECU in a safety mode?

Yes, the ignition advance is retarded and you'll lose up to 20% of your total power.
