McLaren F1 at Goodwood ?

Hello,

I will try to go to Goodwood this year. It is next week-end ! We have to buy tickets in advance, impossible to obtain tickets at he gate !

"Nick Mason, the Pink Floyd drummer, will drive a magnificent Bugatti Type 35 from his personal collection all weekend."

Do you think that he would come with his F1 also ? And if someone know something that I don't know please telle me

Phil - I think you're in luck...

In fact, I think you may end up being very lucky as I see two drivers listed who will be driving McLaren F1 GTRs at the 2004 Goodwood FOS:

Justin Bell, racing son of five-times Le Mans winner Derek, will drive a McLaren-BMW F1 GTR Le Mans on Saturday and Sunday.

Dieter Quester will drive a BMW 635 CSI and a McLaren-BMW F1 GTR Le Mans throughout the weekend.

So it would seem there may be two F1 GTRs at the event, although I'm not certain which ones they will be. Just make sure you take your camera, with lots of film/memory cards and batteries so you can gather lots of new pics for us.

I wish I could be there too - what a time that would be!

Thank you for your help. In fact, I red the "Who drives what" list but don't see these lines.

I'll do my best to go to Goodwood but it is not evident if nobody in my friends are interested

It is also a problem £30 on saturday and £40 on sunday.

I searched for McLaren stuff at Le Mans on June 13rd and I find some stuff :

I went to Goodwood on the Saturday, (it rained all day ), but I got some pictures of #42. Unfortunately they are too big, (+750kb), to post!

Anyhow, the interesting thing was that in addition to the names of the drivers that appear on the rear wheel arches of the car just below the rear side window, there was another name on the off-side, (if the car were right hand drive), door.

The name was D.Quester, and it had an Austrian flag beneath it.

I wonder if this is the owner of the car?

It's hard to say if he would be the owner, but he was listed as the driver for the car at Goodwood:

Dieter Quester will drive a BMW 635 CSI and a McLaren-BMW F1 GTR Le Mans throughout the weekend.

His racing career spans several decades, and he was racing in the FIA GT Series at the time the McLarens would have been competing, however, he was in the GT2 Class driving BMW M3s. I don't show that he ever drove any of these cars in competition, so it's quite possible that the name was added specifically for the Goodwood event.
