good day to you all , question dose any fo you guys have this prob , i have put mags on the beast and since then or as far as i can tell i have had this prob what happens is that when i am driving along the steering wheel will shake quite a lot some times but when i am on different serfaces it dose not do it . first i thought it was the rotors which i got planed and put new pads in which sort of made it stop but it is back now , but this is where it gets tricky if it was the rotors it shoud do it all the time and under braking but it dose it on and off so i think the mags and tyers need blancing agian but still the question is shouldent it do it all the time . so to fix the prob i am getting new rotors and pads rotors coming ex japen via nz brake co and the pads are coming from from a crowed from auckland who i cant rember there name but they are putting on some new mintex pads were they take the old ones and put new fricton metrail on so i will have sh** lods of stop as for the wheels they will be re blanced so that will fix them hope fully any answers to what you as to what else might be wrong would be great buy the way the car is :auto 2.5 non turbo r33 coupe so if ant else has one that dose it as well news on that would be great to thanks james :bonghitte :rocket: :monkeypis :greenchai

Hey mate,
i have exactly the same problem. I have a 94 gts25t, with the standard 16 inch wheels. It has standard nissan calipers, but had huge drilled/slotted discs when i imported it. Every now and then it shakes and shudders, especially under braking. Can someone help us. Does it need a wheel alignment, wheel balance or something else???? Andrew |

Why not just spring for the alignment and balancing? It's not really expensive, and should be done once in a while anyway. And that's probably what it is.

....if it's not worn bushes, then it's balancing that's your prob......it doesn't matter if you've had it done before.... the stick-on weights they use on mags can fall off at any time...( speaking from experience)....
(just my 2cents) cheers, Jon.

I had a similar problem many years ago in a Sigma Scorpion. It was intermittent - seemed I needed to do a certain combination of left and right turns that would throw the harmonics of the front wheels out. Could not track it down, even with balances and wheel swaps (have you tried putting the rears to the front?).
I happened to mention this to someone at work recently, and they suggested it was actually originating in the gearbox, of all places Checked bearings? Checked steering bushes?

Check the wheel centering. You may need some centering rings.
Er.. if its a shake all over, then it could be a driveshaft imbalance problem. (me I think) Er.. and your tyres might not be round. I think Nankangs are supposed to have that problem (I have Nankangs @*#&^&*^@#$&^) I have a two shakes. One in the steering, the other one can be felt all over. So far Im still looking at a) hanger bearing b) driveshaft c) rear wheel centering (done the fronts) d) tyres which are not round (eg oval/bulge)

well had the wheels blanced agian and guesse what
it was them all-right still a little shake in the wheel but know were that is but fu** me what a diff like a new car . the mag had not been made propley had a lump in it or something so what they did was pop the bead and spin the tryer on the rim 180 and re blanced and it was only a little bit out then so its all good . lesson learned from this buy or when you get mags have them blanced before you put tryers on them as if they are wobbley get them to fix the prob cause once the tryer is fitted tough luck . so now we know . see ya:finger: :silly2: |

Update. I took the wheels off and balanced them myself using a
friends tyre balancing machine. Fixed the shake. Fucking idiots at the tyre shop. THink I'll keep using my friends balancing machine and buy him a few beers.

I've got a similar problem at the moment - I've replaced (as a temp solution) all tyres and mags and the shaking is still there - but a but muted - the problem only shows up when driving above the speed limit - overtaking or course) ;-)
