93 Blazer (1500) AC Help

Hello,

I'm looking for an answer to a problem my Blazer's A/C system is having. The Blazer is a 93, 1500 Series with a 350 and AT. My A/C is only blowing out of the floor vents and side defroster vents. I can not figure out why it will not blow out the main vents. The icons on the A/C control unit in the dash flash all the arrows simultaniously from head to feet and will not allow adjustment. I have replaced the in-dash control unit and disconnected the battery to reset the system with no success. No matter what I do, it seems to only go back to blowing out of the floor and side defroster vents. The air is cold so I know the compressor is working. What else should I be looking for? Thanks in advance for the help.

Rich

It's your controller, or one of the hoses...

Thanks for the reply. When you speak of controller (I am an novice who knows enough to get in trouble, but can find my way around) are you speaking of the one in the dash which I replaced already or is there an additional controller unit I should be looking for? Any idea how to diagnose a hose problem? Thanks again.

Yes, the one in the dash... There are several vac lines hooked up to it... It usually turns out to be the diaphram in the controller or one of the hoses leading to it... To diagnose, simmply pull the hoses 1 by one at the interconnector (behind the glove box access panel) and use a vaccum gauge... if it doesn't hold vac you've found the culprit
