First Car

Hi everyone. I just joined and am in need of some help. I turned 16 a while ago and still need a first car. I would like a muscle car with good lines that is
1.) Dependable
2.) Maneuverable
3.) Easy to fix ( I don't mind doing most of the repairs myself)
4.) Cheaper than $2,500

Any recomendations? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, right now I'm looking at the 65/66 Gto's and the Chevelles. I like the lines. Thanks

Re: First Car

chevys are probably going to be your best bet. they are pretty easy to find and the parts are as well. the cars and parts arnt all that expesive. and they are usualy fairly simple to work on.

Re: First Car

Thats a nice car but what I really like about the 65 Gto is the boxy trunk and extended front end. It seems to me that round lines meld easier into a square background.

Re: First Car

i happen to own a 65 Tempest (non-gto). its a good car and fairly simple to restore. right now im in the process of disasembling it and restoring it to its classic beauty. i mean if u want to look into the GTO theres also the tempests that normally came with a 215 I6 or sometimes a 326, then theres the lemans which came with the 326. all good cars they just have different options. if u want to talk more contact me on AIM Kev31289

Re: First Car

I had a '65 Lemans with the 326 and console with 3 - speed Hurst shifter (non-synchro first). I had that car when I was young in the early 70s. I loved that car even though at the time I always wished it was a GTO. You would have to get lucky to find a nice Tempest or Lemans now for $2,500. And a GTO for $2.500 -- it would have to be a basket case!
