94 1.9 Escort won't start
I changed my oil on Thursday, on Friday drove it about 100 miles round trip and parked it in my garage. Saturday it wouldn't start. Can't tell if gas is flowing or not. Any suggestions?
Once before, I got the engine wet while I was refilling the radiator. For a day after that, engine wouldn't start. Next day, ran fine. |

Re: 94 1.9 Escort won't start
have the fuel pressure checked first. Pull the plugs and see if they're wet, with anything, then say what it is (water, gas, oil). Do the plug thing first, then check the fuel pressure. You may not need a new fuel pump. Turn the key to "on", dont start it. Listen for a buzz from th gas tank. Does it sound like a nice healthy buzz, or like something is trying hard, but not quite good enough. Thats your fuel pump. Check those, then let me know.
EDIT: What kind of condition are the plugs in, what do they look like? |

If you hear nothing, first check your fuses and relays, if they are good, then definately go for the fuel pump, don't even bother checking fuel pressure if you can't hear the fuel pump.
