Re: front disc dreaks make a rubing sound

Have the same issue with my front left side. It is pissing me off. I just had new rotors and brakes put on and the fact they are rubbing knowing this fact pisses me off to no end.

I tried cleaning them, putting W grease on the outer portions, but every time I apply some pressure, the sqeeking makes me mad.

If you find out then let me know. Glad soemone else asked this question, before I did.

Re: front disc dreaks make a rubing sound

I just started having that prob on my '86, but it started after I installed new pads. The rotors still looked great, so I didn't get 'em turned. Only thing I can think is that the caliper isn't moving the pads far enough when the brake isn't engaged, then again, its just a guess. My solution, turn the radio so loud that I worry about the topper flying off instead of the brakes squeaking.

Re: front disc dreaks make a rubing sound

take off pads & slide caliper back & forth to insure it moves free.look at piston to see if it has any rust or pitts around seal.also after reinstalling, compress piston in and step on brake pedal a couple of times to free it up even more.

Re: front disc dreaks make a rubing sound

I had the same problem with my '87 Ranger. I changed and greased new calipers and never had the problem again.
