Holding Crankshaft Pulley

Am getting ready to change the timing belt on my 97 Camry 2.2L. Anybody have any good tricks for holding the damper pulley while loosening/tightening the bolt holding it on?

Any other techniques or suggestions also appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Ray

Re: Holding Crankshaft Pulley

Wedge a large screwdriver against a converter bolt.

Re: Holding Crankshaft Pulley

$50 electric impact wrench worked for me.
Was able to hold the harmonic dampener by hand, and the crankshaft bolt spun right out without moving the pulley (handy for keeping the timing marks aligned).
Might be a good idea to get a harmonic dampener puller also. When I removed mine, I found the last mechanic had chipped the back of the pulley and dented the oil pan preesumably from prying with a screwdriver (I think yours will take 8mm bolts for the puller)
