1994 3.1L Grand Am totally loses power when first driven
on my 3.1L i am having trouble with getting any power when i first start off. when i put it in drive and take off it runs until i get up in the higher rpm's. it totally loses power for a few seconds. i can floor the pedal and it just coasts. it takes a few seconds and will gain all the power back again and will drive just fine if. i give it too much gas when it comes back it kicks in really hard and it jerks my head back. It does not happen every time i shut the car off and turn it on, i seem to have to let it set for about 20 minutes for it to do it again. I know it can't be good when this happens and i feel i am putting too much strain on my tranny. If anyone has any clue what this is, please help me out!!! Thanks.

Re: 1994 3.1L Grand Am totally loses power when first driven
r u sure it isn't the tranny? Does the car shut off, or just lose power. The rpms don't go high do they, does it just lose all power and keep running?

Re: 1994 3.1L Grand Am totally loses power when first driven
check you're tranny fluid I bet its either too low, too high or burnt. if its not that, then it may be the TPS, the sensor should read .5 volts at idle and 5 volts at WOT.
