Re: 93SL head light replacement

I want to upgrade my headlights to halogen/xenon light sources (wish I could afford HIDs) but there are so many cheep looking ones out there I don't know what to buy or who to buy it from. Also if I did purchace real halogen/xenon bulbs would they fit into the stock sockets or would I have to do some other modification to the lighting system.... so confused, someone please help me out here.

Re: 93SL head light replacement

The number for the 91-93 headlights is H4666. And if you do want to change it, you have to change the whole light, you can't only change the bulb. Thats the bad part. Most cars that have flip-up lights, if the light bulb goes out, then they will have to get the whole projector. They sell those at kragens.

Re: 93SL head light replacement

Well, that I'm not sure. But they probably won't fit. I think the only one that fits is H4666. And if you want to do like H4 conversion, you will have to get a H4666->H4 headlight conversion kit, those don't cost that much, but the wiring will be a headache. But once you change it, and you want to change the color of the light, you can just change the light bulb without changing the whole light.

Re: 93SL head light replacement

I think what they mean by bulb is the whole projector. Because for H4666, the bulb is totally sealed inside the projector, there's no way you can just change the bulb unless you do a H4 conversion. But it's not that hard to change the whole projector, just flip up the lights, take out some screws, then the projector will come out, then just unplug it. Because for H4666, again, the projector is the bulb. I changed them once, if you have questions, I can give you some pictured instructions.

I have a 1995 so no pop up's, I think I will go take a look see at the lights today and get back to you, I donlt wnat to do a costly HID conversion I just want to use the Sylvania silverstar lights in my exsisting fixtures if possible, if I have to do any moding to the fixture I don't want to spend more than about $80.

I went to walmart today and while brousing the auto section I found the Silvanya bulbs I wanted.... So I kind of stole tehm but I don't feel bad, it was wal mart after all, and they were too much for me to be spending, they went right in and work great, I reccomend them highly! They give a much brighter light and withought the dull yellow tint, they even have a very slight blue but maybe it was jsut my eyes. If anyone wants pics I took a before and after and I will post them, but only if you ask pretty please with a cherry on top :.

Re: 93SL head light replacement

Oh you have a 95. I thought you had at 93 the whole time because this thread's name is 93SL headlight replacement. haha. So if you have 95, you don't have to worry about the projector.

Heh cool well like I said I figured that out after snatching those wicked bulbs, again it is a realy good cosmetic upgrade and it brings the road to life alot more, much more lifelike color, it's like going from a room inside with no windows to the full sun! If your ever at wall mart, snag your self a pair (if you don't have a moral problem with it of course).
