Yu should be able to swap it out, but you will also need to swap out the ECU, wiring harness, and sensors as well. I would suggest you have wiring diagrams of both the 3SFE (2.0L) and 5SFE (2.2L) handy to outline the wiring details.

Good luck..

I put a 5S-FE engine in a 1991 Camry that normally has a 3S-FE. You'll have to use your old intake manifold, exhaust manifold and waterpump, otherwise everything else will work just perfectly. You won't need to replace the ECU (Computer) or the harness.

Hmmm...that's an idea...

BRijesh, you could probably do something similar to what Erndog1369 did. In your case, it would be the other way around. It still would be good for you to get the wiring diagrams anyway, in case you need to double-check connections.

You really shouldn't need the wiring diagram. If you use the old intake manifold, including the fuel rail, throttle body and water housing (on the side of the cylinder head), then all of your connections should be the same. Also reuse the exhaust manifold, just to be safe. You might also want to reuse the old valve cover, just to keep the original look, it should fit the new engine. I've made the 3S-FE to 5S-FE swap a few times and everything worked just fine.
