2001 S/C problem at 35k miles... windows...
As of this moment, Nissan is replacing the S/C on my 2001 Frontier. Basically it amounts to a grinding noise when floored. Then when fully warm, almost entire lack of power from the S/C as in no low end torque and standard power curve of a normally aspirated engine.
Anyway, the service manager said his tech had seen the problem before and they'd replace it. He couldn't say what the exact problem was. Now that's put a scare into me. I was thinking of purchasing the lease in Jan '05 since I love the truck, but a semi-common S/C problem at 35k?!?! Anyone else with this problem? As well, I had the passenger window cable twist on me resulting in no window movement. He checked recall info and all crew cab window assemblies were recalled. FYI for anyone out there. Thanks, Josh |

Update
S/C is fixed. They did replace the entire S/C, though they stated that it was the bearings that had worn out. They put the 2004 S/C on it that has updated/corrected bearings so it won't fail at 35k again.
FYI, for those of you with older S/C's that may want to get them looked at before the 5/60 powertrain warranty is up. |

My S/C 2001 Frontier has 31K miles now and the supercharger belt failed for no reason.
Replaced the belt (only $20.00) and the bearings on the supercharger seemed to be smooth etc. No strange noises yet. Will definitely keep a watch on the supercharger for immediate failure. Hope that extended warranties cover the part. I did lose a window regulator mechanism on passenger side as well and they were also replaced under the recall issue. Cable ran off track. Also window seals were crap.. they were replaced as well. I like my truck, but like all new cars it seems... more mechanical issues than expected. |
