735i?

Hi Folks,

I was searching on 735s and found this, so thought I'd join and ask those who know.

I'm in the throes of changing my present car and need a very comfortable luxury saloon without spending too much money. I've been offered a 1990 BMW 735i for a remarkably good price. (ZAR50000/US$6500) The vehicle has a full service history and 170,000 Kms on the clock......this ties in with the service record. As we don't salt the roads here in sunny South Africa the bodywork is in great condition.

What I need to know is, what can I expect to go wrong on a vehicle of this age and is the engine particularly hi-tech, or can a reasonably competant mechanic manage to maintain it?...... also, and this shows how green I am about these vehicles. Does it have a cam belt that I might need to change or is it some kind of gear system etc?

Look forward to ant advice you can give me.......

Cheers

Steve

Re: 735i?

Reasonably OK but I still think you could find one either newer or with less mileage. My advice for you would be to keep searching
