91 Ranger Junk??
Hello all....i am new here so here goes. 91 ranger(V6 2.9L 5 speed) that chugs and stutters etc. I changed the wires, plugs, rotor, and cap still no difference. This thing also has approx. 260 kms. One other thing is that i have had no heat all winter and up here in Canada thats pretty damn cold riding. I had the heater core flushed and still no difference. I am not losing coolant so ??? If any one has had any issues like this and may have a few solutions or options to try please let me know.....Thanks!!

Re: 91 Ranger Junk??
Change the thermostat to help with the heating issue. As for the stuttering, could be the injectors or the timing needs adjustment

Re: 91 Ranger Junk??
Thermostat has been changed numerous times and no heat. I did drain what looked like mud out of the rad and then had the whole system flushed....no heat. Could this be a bad head gasket?? Timing is fine for the other issue and I am taking her in for a test on the computer.....hopfully that will give me some type of issue with the stutter.
Thanks all |

Re: 91 Ranger Junk??
you could check to see if the cold/hot dampener in the hose from motor to cab is opening and closing. not sure where it's loc on your trk. might be behind glove box like newer trk's or under hood. do you have a check engine light on for bad running prob?

Re: 91 Ranger Junk??
prob not head gasket or would be losing coolant out exhaust.

the chugging will never stop, and probably never will do anything bad; the 2.9 is notorious for that. My old ranger did that forever, and i found that the best way to fix it was keep checking the oil and crank up the radio...

Sounds like you may have a plugged heater core. Also check to see if the heater hoses are on correctly and that none of the hoses are collapsed. Engine should also have a comp. scan done. Good luck.
