Whoops...salvage
This weekend my wife and I signed a lease for a Honda Civic. We traded in a '93 Mazda Protege (93,000 mi) poor condition. We were given $750 for it toward the down payment. This car belonged to my wife before we got married...I go home and dig out her title and there on the title it states: "REBUILT VEHICLE."
Here's my question...do you think that when we go to pick up the vehicle and hand over the title of the Mazda that the dealer will balk and "cancel" our deal? We pick up the car on Tuesday...! |

Re: Whoops...salvage
hes only giving you $750 anyway so when they go to re-sell it they really cant be losin much $$. He probly wont back out, but you might have to talk him down from lowering your trade in dollars

My son tried to trade in a very clean Volvo 240 with a salvage/rebuilt title. We couldn't find any dealer that would touch it. We ended up having to sell it ourselves.

Salvage Story
Well...it all ended up fine. We went in to pick up the car and the finance person came over to have us sign. She asked for the title on the Mazda and didn't even blink when she read "REBUILT" - just flipped it over and had us sign.
My guess is that the car is going to be crushed or used for parts anyway. I can't imagine anyone putting it on a lot and trying to sell an 11 year old Protege...although she was a very good car (until the end!). - BK |
