BEST HANDLING car for around 5k

I'm young and inexperienced but have developed a taste for driving. My father gave me a VW Corrado for a first car, it handled like a dream, but it broke down too much so we had to sell it (and it was an Automatic so boring to drive). The alternative car I have now is a sweet 320i from 1983. It is an awesome car to drive since it's a 5 speed, but it lacked in the handling department what the Corrado had (even though the Corrado was FWD). My question is what is the BEST HANDLING car you can get for around 5k, or some of the best handling cars you can get. I don't care about speed, HP, torque, etc in this question, all I care about is handling.

From my limited understanding, these cars would be included:

e30 325is BMW
Porsche 944
VW GTI's

But as I said I'm not sure, so I seek the wise advice from the members of this forum.

not so much a gti, they are more expensive, at least the mk.4s, and handling has been compromised for comfort. a prelude or 240sx will handle quite well.

the porsche is the best handling in the group u have up there, but the bmw is in close second. a golf is awesome as well, but have u considered a civic hatch? they handle incredibly

theres alot of cars that handle well, even if they dont fix up the suspension and sway bars and all and you can make almost any car handle like a dream
