Post supercharger+nitros question?

I have a 5.3L 2000 Silverado. I have added hypertech programming and power stat, along with a whipple supercharger. I am thinking of adding a 2800 to 3000 stall converter and MSD ignition. My question is I want to add a nitros setup to my current setup; is this over kill and/or to much to expect my 5.3L to handle? Also any other sugested upgrades to my setup would be helpful?

My goal is to run in bracket drag racing. Thanks

Re: supercharger+nitros question?

With a supercharger I would get a different ingnition. MSD is a good choice. There are small things to look at as well like plugs, wires, distributor. Nos wouldn't be overkill as long as you make other adjustments. What kind of hp are you at now? Will your stock rear-end handle the power?

Re: supercharger+nitros question?

Those motors are almost 300hp stock, so with the supercharger and other mods it would have to be almost 500hp. This would be pushing the rearend pretty hard as it is. I don't think the drivetrain would like the laughing gas very much.

rear end?

I was thinking about getting a posi traction upgrade made by Eaton or the Powertrax No slip posi upgrade.

That brings up another question; should I change out the ring and pinion gears?
I believe it is geared at like 2.91 to 1 now; should I look at getting a mid to high 3+ to 1 gearing ratio?

Thanks guys!

Clay

Re: supercharger+nitros question?

What rear end does your truck have in it? It might be able to handle it, depending on what it is. Just remeber that the lower the gear ratio (higher numerical number) the weaker the rear end becomes.

Re: supercharger+nitros question?

This might be a little off topic, but I have the same truck and I was wondering if you have the factory transmission in your truck and how much horsepower do you think it can take?
