help engine mount question

Can someone tell me how many (which ones) engine mounts are needed for a 1992 Acura Integra GS--atutomatic? I get difference answers from the dealer/repair and other supply houses. I need all engine mounts and transaxle (?) mounts replaced.

Also can anyone recommend a reliable mechanic in LA that can replace them?

Thank you!!

I have replaced all the mounts on my teg. there are three engine mounts and one tranny mount. the mounts are not very difficult to replace as long as you have a nice floor jack and the basic tools. except the mount near the fire wall, that one is a bitch. and the bolts on the mount on the tranny are a little difficult to get to but is alot easier than the back mount. if you need anymore help let me know. and sorry im in FL and i do all of my work. everytime someone else touches my car they f*%# it up.

engine mounts

Thank you for your reply! I had 2 replaced but it has not solved my problem. The car still really vibrates when stopped at stop light. I know I need to do the other 2 mounts. Do you think that will resolve the vibration problem or could it be from the brakes?

when at a stop light it cannot be the brakes. and yes the other mounts need to be replaced. that should solve the problem. when my first mount went it was like a chain reaction, they all started to go. even with one mount broke, it will still vibrate. and only when you are coming up to a stop light will the steering wheel shake and that is tellign you that your rotors are warped. hope that helps. so get those mounts fixed. the mounts work together to stop the vibration.

Re: help engine mount question

My next door neighbor has a '92 Integra LS auto, and she needs motor mounts badly. The problem is that she can only find them in Los Angeles at a Honda dealer. Those guys want roughly $800. Is there any hope for her? I have driven quite a few Integras of similar age and they all seem to exhibit a lot of vibration probably because of motor mounts. My friend is about to trade her car because of her motor mount problems (and the fact that her auto tranny needs some work). I'm hoping there is some easy fix that only an Integra enthusiast would know---rather than generic car advice. 'Cause she ain't payin' $800 for motor mounts, plus whatever price she's going to have to pay for transmission rebuild/repair/replacement. She has about 145k miles.

i did all of my mounts myself, and it cost me roughly $180 just for the mounts themselves. i found all but the cam side mount outside of the dealership. just like i said before the hardest mount to do is the one against the firewall. other than that, the other three mounts can be done fairly easy. if you need help let us know. we can walk you through step by step.

Thanks Integralover. Well, today I put the car up on jackstands and I found her problem. Well, not her tranny problem but her motor mount problem. The front motor mount was severed. It snapped in half, and obviously that is probably the #1 place to start. I noticed some rubber from the drivers' side motor mount sticking out, probably from all the additional stress of a missing front end motor mount.

Know a good place to purchase an affordable motor mount? All the places I've called so far have told me to run to the dealership. And they want HUNDREDS of dollars for each motor mount.

Hi
I also sent you a PM in answer to your first query.
You can buy them online for about $275 (incl $22 overnite charge) for all 4. They are all OEM Honda parts so do not buy from dealer. They are a total ripoff. Google engine mounts "acura" and there are many places you can buy online. The prices vary with $10-20 for each mount.
I think I got mine from acuautoparts.com

Hope this helps.
