N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
ok people need to understand that n20 does not burn AT ALL. some asshole from work argued all day with me about this. and to any of you who mistaking think that... you're wrong. i know most of you realize this, but for those who don't...
FALLACY: N2O is explosive and a fire hazard. FACT: N2O will not burn, nor is it a fuel. It is merely an oxygen-rich compound that supports the combustion of additional fuel. That's why additional fuel is injected along with the N2O on all N2O systems. It is true that if N2O is added to a combustion process already in progress, the extra oxygen may cause rapid, uncontrolled combustion, thus raising the peak temperatures produced. http://www.dynopower.freeserve.co.uk..._technical.htm ok i feel better know

Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
well im glad u vented, i mean not to be a dick but it is kind of a fuel, is the since that it is fuel for fuel, thats what all oxygen is. But your right the fuel is what is making more power. as for the not explosive. your right and wrong depending on how u look at it...n2o is not combustable however if you put it in a bottle and heat it up too much ur gunna end up like that guy who blew up his trunk/garage. So its not as safe as water. But i do appreciate you clearing that all up for us

Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
if you compress any gas it could explode. a fire extinguisher could explode and im pretty sure they had those in the fast and the furious cars. which is undoubtedly where people got the idea that n2o could explode/burn.

Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
i might be wrong about this so dont bitch at me, nitrogen gas n2 is non combustable alone but once combined wiht oxygen creating either n20 n204 it now becomes combustable meaning that it does combust in the engine.

Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
NO
NO NO N2O is NON-COMBUSTABLE! all it does is provide more oxygen to you engine because it is 33% oxygen whereas the atmosphere is like 20% or something. |

My favorite movie with n2o in it is Black Sheep with Chris Farley and David Spade when they get high off the leak... Rooooo-ads, Roods

Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
n2o in an oxidizer not a fule
when you add heat to nitrous it brakes into 2 nitrogen and two oxygen molicules |

Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
You need an oxygenator b/c it creates a more stable reaction. Oxygen is good for combustion but injecting pure oxygen into an engine would create a powerful and violent reaction that would undoubtably blow the engine up.

Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
the n in the n2o is just there as a -stabalizing- element.. if you inject 100% oxygen into your engine, lets hope no airplanes are flying over you at the time you 'spray' because your head is going into orbit.. need the n in there.
yeah most of that's true, but it's late and i'm babbling

Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
not to mention, nitrogen is a coolant. what make your car run better?... warm oxygen or very cold.

Re: Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
Quote:
Well a fire extinguisher could explode because of an increase of tank pressure, if you heat up a pressurized vessel, it will increase tank pressures beyond the limit of the vessel. An exploding fire extinguisher won't produce any type of combustion Quote:

i say it is combustible, but its still not a fuel. just because the fac that its part oxygen, oxygen burns, etc. but thats just my personal opinion

Re: N2o Does Not Burn!!!!
Just like air, it supports combustion of a fuel, but won't ignite on its own. It merely can support more fuel per volume than air can.
