Hey;

I'm new here to AF. I'm only 19 but I've liked VWs for as long as I can remember - especially 80's models (mk1+2, vanagon, scirrocos, fox etc).

I bought my mk3 golf just about a year ago, and still love it. it looks black but its actually dark green.

Just thought I'd drop a couple of pictures I've taken (all but passat).

Another friend wrecked his 98 jetta vr6 (replaced with old prelude); a different friend wrecked her mk4 jetta (replaced with new tdi jetta), and my uncle's wife just totalled their Passat 1.8T (replaced with another)

Finally, here's my car - not much to look at, but I'm happy its not stock anymore:

The wheels are Votex; I didn't even know VW had its own aftermarket line until I got these.
Only one serious problem so far (massive coolant leak, fixed under warranty), and minor annoyances (side moldings, lost speaker grille).
Only 72,000 miles on it .. this is my first car, I hope to keep it as long as I can.

I saw a "Hot VWs" magazine at a store today, it seemed to have only classics .. are there any magazines which would feature newer VWs?

Eurotuner is a good mag when it comes to VW's. They feature all cars, but still have a good bit of VW stuff in there.

Eurotuner suck ass for the most part. They might have a issue or two a year tht are worth picking up. This is unless of course you actually like the U.S. look on European cars. Go out and pick up 'zines like Performance VW, The GOLF+, and VW Scene. I know the first two have websites but I'm not too sure about the last one. The best looks for any car always comes from where the cars come from, I.E. Muscle cars and the U.S., Imports from Japan, or Euro cars from Europe.
