E-brake light
My emergency brake light on my dashboard stays on all of the time. I have topped off my brake fluid and had my brakes checked and I still can't get the light off. Could someone please help. It is getting very annoying. My car is a '99 Camry CE.
Thanks!! Last edited by sandslady2; 06-16-2004 at 12:34 AM. |

Re: E-brake light
If you know how, or are comfortable with taking apart the center console, you may want to check the wires and wireharness by the e-brake for a short. If the wires are shorted or cut, it could be sending a false signal.

Re: E-brake light
Also, in addition to what ice has said, if you have ABS installed in your car, you might want to have it checked by a mechanic somewhere.

Re: E-brake light
Yes, what he said is true. If you look in your manual it states that the light is used for both of those purposes, the e-brake, and abs. You said you had the brakes checked already, but if you need to take it back to a mechanic, you may want to bring up the abs to make sure they check that too.

Re: E-brake light
Yes, be sure that you get the ABS checked. There is nothing more important on your car than the braking system. It's what protects you, and others on the road.
BTW ice, I love your siggy...great stuff...
