Automatic ZC Motor?
Someone told me that if you have this two ports on the back of the intake-manifold for your ZC that it means it was an Auto-Matic. The block is stamped "ZC" and the intake manifold says PM7 on it. Theres just a few things I'm a little worried about. That "Fast Idle Valve" thingy on the lower part of the intake manifold isn't on the ZC Engine. I'm assuming that vaccum port is used for the brake booster line seeing as the brake booster port isnt where it should be on the ZC. And also, right next to the distributor, on the front left corner of the engine, is like a big box or filter or something and it has elecritcal lines running from it. Anyone have an idea what this is?
-Jim PS- I wil get pics asap |

Re: Automatic ZC Motor?
If you have a motor that was driven with an auto tranny, you should be rejoicing. It is less likely that this motor was beat-on by it's previous owner.

Re: Automatic ZC Motor?
MY ZC is from an auto. Only difference I saw was the extra port on the back of the intake manifold.

Okay, I got her in with the tranny. Now I'm stuck at another problem. On the back of the ZC Intake Manifold, where the Fast Idle Valve thingy should go there isn't a spot to put it, theres one hole for a screw and a port for a vaccum line I'd say. I think this port is what I use for my Brake Booster line correct? But then what do I do about the Fast Idle Valve? Also, on the back of the motor by the oil filter, I think it is some type of oil pressure sensor, its a yellow/greens stripe and a black I believe. Does it matter which way it plugs in because it can go in both ways. THanks guys, Jim!

![]() This was what I had left of the that cam angle sensor. Its on the exhuast side. Right above that green connecter is the sensor, it had only stubbs, i mean like stubbs left of wires sticking out it. The wires are the same as the ones in the sensor, so I'm guessing I connect those and then the other two wires that are leaving the other part of the green connecting connect to my distributor plug. Correct? ![]() Here is that part where the Fast Idle Valve has no where to go. I'm assuming this is where my brake booster line will go. But what do I do about this FIV? Cause it has a sensor plugged to it. I am using the PG7 ECU by the way. ![]() Heres yeh old engine being lifted to its grave. ![]() And heres my used ZC from Rising Sun Engines. As for that oil sensor plug, I couldnt get a good pic. But it's a black wire, and a yellow/blue or green stripe on it. It can plug in both ways on the back of the block. Does it matter? |
