I need your opinion...

I have been reading these forums for quite awhile now. I finally decided to make a username because I will be getting a car in about one year. This is my situation.. I struck a deal with my parents, to shorten it up, they are going to give me 5k for a car, and whatever money I can save up. I got a job this summer and I’m working long weeks to get that cash flow. I have researched a lot, and came to the conclusion that i either want to get a 99-00 civic Si, or get a crx and drop a b16a2 or b18c1 (depending on how much money i have) in it. My long-term goals for both of those cars are to eventually boost them. How do you think i should spend my money? By the way, I am currently driving my sister's 1998 jetta gl (manual), which is slow as anything.

Todd

if you're planning on boosting it then don't get a B18C1, the B18B will take the boost much better and is cheaper on the wallet. I would personally get the Si just because it's newer and nicer, and is fast stock. The crx would also be cool though.

i would do the crx, just cuz you could get it cheaper then 5k, plus drop a b18a or c1 and boost. light car and with boost means, fast a hell.

I personally want to do the B18B boosted, like kicker was talking about. I've been doing research for months now and it seems like the best option.

Re: I need your opinion...

In all honesty, I doubt that you will be able to raise up enough money for the Si. No offense or anything but I just don't think that you can do it. I have saved like shit the past 6 months and all I've saved is a $1200 which I spent on rims. I think you'll be able to save maybe $2400. With $7400, you can get yourself a sweet teg gsr and quite a few bolt-ons. You can easily pull out a good 200 hp for a first can that is fucking sweet. I just wish that I had that opportunity.

Of couse, if you really want the 99-00 si, go for it. A goal is always good to have. And may I suggest getting it in blue.

Re: I need your opinion...

I'd get a newer (97+) Integra GS-R from somebody selling one on a local forum. One with only an intake header and exhaust, with a stock body and interior. Anything modded more than that would probably have hurt its reliability over the years. I'm sure you could find somebody selling one for around $7k.

Or, I know somebody locally selling a modded 96 black mustang gt for $5,900 and looks really nice. You can buy used domestics from the mid/late 90's for well under your price range, and they'll run 12's or 13's all day long. If you're going to mod a Honda to go that fast it's really going to cost you..

I'd go with CRX over 2000 SI... especially if you plan on doing a b18c swap. I believe the 2000 SI comes with a B16, but if you want to do an engine swap and boost it, its kind of a waste to start with the B16 isn't it? :P And the 2000 SI weighs about 700 pounds more then the CRX.

Actually, I'd drive both the civic and the CRX, see which you like more, Then decide.
