Dodge Neon is possessed!! Help!

Hi all! I bought a used 2003 Dodge Neon back in October, and was running good up until April. Now you can be driving along and all of a sudden the car will quit. Gages will go crazy, lights and radio will go off, and then it will start up again. Don't even have to turn the key! Another bad thing is when this happens, it will just about throw you through the windshield. And sometimes it won't even start at all when you first get in it. We have had it to the dealer 3 times ( they kept it for a week the second time ) and of course it never happens when they are driving it, or they are just not telling us! They have put in on a computer, they pulled up a code the last time and they didn't even know what it stood for. I have been in touch with the Dodge Corporation and they are as confused as we are. I know I sound crazy, ( most of the mechanics look at us funny when we describe what it is doing) but one day we are going to get run over. Luckily when the car does this there has not been anyone riding our bumper, yet. I really need some help here, my mother lives in Ohio and is in bad health, but I am scared to death to drive it for an 8 hour trip on the interstate. I think ( course i am not real car savy) that it is the computer system, because the clock on the radio will go back to 12:00. Road and weather conditions have no effect and either does the length of the drive. Some days it runs fine, sometimes it will do this 2 or 3 times going to or coming home from work. So any ideas? Do I need to perform an exorcism? I hate to make payments on a car that I am afraid will get me killed. thanks for any and all help you can give!

I had the same problem in my old 96' neon , its actually a very easy fix. Just make sure that battery is properly grounded. evn if it looks for at the battery terminally may be corrodid at the other end. mine had the same problem for a bout a year and no one would believe me then one day decided to replace the battery and cables and sure enough all is was ,was a bad connection. which made the car not start sometimes and the gauges would go crazy while driveing it and reset me stereo.
