From a civic 92+ year, how to tell if it's a VX, CX, DX, etc.
I'm looking to by a 92+ civic hatchback and I was wondering how you can tell whether the car is a VX, CX, or a DX...I guess next would be an SI, but the SI has a 1.6L engine. When the car has been repainted, the label is usually no longer there.
Also, does all these 92+ model (VX, CX, DX) comes with "vtec" in it, even though it's SOHC? Thanks in advance guys. |

Re: From a civic 92+ year, how to tell if it's a VX, CX, DX, etc.
the Si and VX have vtec; the VX is economy vtec though so it's more for gas millage than power. The CX doesn't have the side molding on it (black strip along the doors) and some of the VX's don't either; when i first saw my buddy's HB which is a VX it didn't have the moldings so I assumed it was a CX till I saw the vtec engine. The Si also has a sunroof. Tha VX has it's own rims on there. The DX and Si have rear wipers. Then they all have different engine codes on the block.

you could choke the intake manifold on the vx with a golf ball, easiest way to tell the motor. and civicspoon i think got the just of it all.
