Re: hello again motor swap and beef up
I hope you are using a 3rd gen civic, because the d16a1 is not a direct bolt into the 4th gen (d16a6 is, and the JDM ZC)......

Re: hello again motor swap and beef up
The 86-89 teg motors do NOT bolt into 88-91 Civics.
86-89 Integra - based on 3rd gen Civic 84-87 90-93 Integra - based on 4th gen Civic 88-91 However, 90-93 Integras have b-series motors, which still require mounts to fit in 4th gen Civics, but a lot of other parts will bolt in if they fill the niche - i.e. rear disc brakes from a 90-93 Integra bolt directly onto 88-91 Civics, but the front suspensions are not identical. The d16a1 motor only makes 118HP, so it is only 10 more than an 88-91 Civic Si d16a6 motor. Not worth the hassle in my opinion, AND it does NOT bolt in. Even a 92-95 Civic vtec (d16z6) makes 125hp or a 96-00 (d16y8) makes 127hp and they bolt in (these require some wiring mods however to work with a 4g) Another option is the JDM ZC (mentioned above) - there are a zillion differet versions, but the black valve cover DOHC version makes 130hp, bolts in directly, and doesn't require too much wiring..These are older motors tho (out of Japenese Civics & Teggy's) and are getting hard to find in good shape. Try these links...they will help tremendously... http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/4gtech.html - old site but good info with more text http://tech.hybridgarage.com/tech/4gtech/index.html - new site in table format

Re: hello again motor swap and beef up
Yep look for a SOHC ZC engine. They are jdm, very cheap, seen them for like 400 bucks, 130hp. Vtec, 9000 redline.
Direct Bolt in! Just have to run 2 wires for vtec. |
