no start

My 1985 s-10 blazer (180,000mi) died on me. Got gas, don't think I have fire though. The truck will not start, just turns over and over but wont fire up and run. Checked wires from battery to starter and found 2 bad spots electrical taped them, all other wires looked fine. Replaced plugs and coil, still no fire, other than checking the distributor any other suggestions?

Thank you for the reply,
After I made the post I thought that same thing so I had the ignition module tested and it is good. Any other ideas?

Re: no start

when did it die? while you were driving? had you changed anything recently?

you didn't say you replaced plug wires. possilbe culprit is the starter solenoid, they die when they've had too much heat exposure, but they normally work after they have cooled down. After a while of cranking the engine, the exhaust should have a smell of fresh fuel, if not suspect fuel pump. also when you turn the ignition key to the on position (not start) fuel pump should make pumping noise, you might not be able to hear it from inside the car, have a friend turn ignition key while you listen. other than what everyone else has said, only other problem should be the ignition timing. this would mean broken/bad timing chain. big money to have fixed.

Re: no start

Through a timing light on the number 1 plug and see if you have ignition. Oh, and get rid of the electrical tape and use shrink tube.
