Does anyone know of any good products or ways to increase the horsepower on my stock '87 Nissan Stanza sedan? The car doesn't have much power now, but it would be great to have some more power.

Get a different car
Like a used Supra or RX-7.
Then you won't need to tune it for more power.
I think you can get '90 Supra or Rx-7 pretty cheap...
Just an idea.

Maybe he doesn't want another car.

I say exaust is usually the first thing to do before any mods on the ol' beast.

Suggestion: Why don't you get a 90-92 Stanza and throw a body kit on it and then modify it. Mine is like that, except the engine remains untouched.

I'd definitely buy a different car if I had the money. I'm only 15 though, and I don't even have my license yet. I get it in about 2 months though. I simply can't afford to buy a different car. I got this one from my parents.

Just wondering though, how much would an old Supra or RX-7 cost in fair condition?

Mods

I would do something like K&N if they make it for your year. I would do a header or headers what ever your engine is and then do a high flow muffler. I would do new plugs, bosch platinum 4s. New spark plug wires, new rotor cap, change the fluids put some good stuff in it... Clean your injectors. You could find a cam that would probably be more to your liking for pretty cheap also....
Good Luck

While I think your best advice for going fast is getting a different car, if you want to keep your car and just soup her up a bit, I agree with unite. K&N is a good step 1, although keep your options open for using custom intake tubing (be wary of PVC - it can melt from excessive underhood temperatures - no joke, it happens) to replace your stock intake housing, and put the biggest K&N conical filter you can get your hands on on the end.

Headers and exhaust if you can find them (or you can get plumbing components through outfits like JC Whitney), you can perhaps have your engine's head milled for better airflow, getting your existing fuel injectors cleaned, and hey, you can even replace them and your fuel pump with higher flowrate units for better fuel flow and increased power, particularly when coupled with a custom intake that will allow for increased air supply to your engine. You should notice increased horsepower, torque, and most especially throttle response.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't have any money at the moment, but when I do, I'll do some more research on those ideas.

Thumbs up my 92 Stanza

Yeah,
I got a '92 Stanza. Start with intake and exhaust. Its not worth it if you dont know how to do rverything yourself unless you have money. If you want more power, find a friend who knows mechanics and have him help you out or do it yourself. I do all my own work.. Its good for you. Intake and exhaust is the way to go for an inexpensive performance boost. If you dont want a whole intake system, go for just an air filter. If you want more, get headers(if you can find em.. I cant find em for my car), sparks plugs and plug wires. If anyone needs anything, email me... [email protected] ... Im out_

-duece-

Oh yea... And dont listen to all them moddasuckas talkin bout get a new car... Keep your car... No one else uses stanzas to fix up.. youll be unique... anyway like i said email me... catch yall boys lata-

Wink

Well I have the same thing, I have done some really cool, modifications to this machine, I have ground effects, lovers, etc, I split the Exhaust on it, and eliminated the 4 Extra spark plugs, I only have the intake firing, you don’t need all 8 plugs firing.
Then you can advance the timing 2* and remove some Exhaust parts, I wont say. but you figure it out.
Burn Super Unladed in it, the Vehicle loves it. And when you have the funds, try NOS, it runs Great with out a problem.
Have fun!!
