What is the difference d15b and d15b2
Hello,
We ordered an engine for our 91 Civic DX - it was supposed to be identical to the one we took out d15b, however, when we recieved it, it was the d15b2. There is some sort of breathing apparatus going into the head - next to the distributor just above the thermostat housing, (this isn't on old block, there is an outline in the casting but it was not punched out) what do I hook this up to. New engine has a dual carb setup (the old has dual point fuel injection, which I prefer to use) and the new engine was setup for an automatic tranny (I have manual 5 speed). What is the diffence (other than what I mentioned) between the 2 engines and will we need to change anything? I saw some previous posts, but they didn't really answer my specific question. Thanks in advance. Susie |

Re: What is the difference d15b and d15b2
well im not much on the engine swap knowledge but i dont think you will need to do much for the tranny as the manual and auto should have the same bolt pattern. as for the dual carb to DPFI ... well im gonna guess again that the bolt pattern is the same so try fitting it in.
uhhh i hope that helps.

The D15B is JDM, it's from a Civic VTi, I think.

ya, you should be able to just switch out the tranny,( your new one with the old), I am not sure what you will have to do to switch the carbs with the DPFI.

Re: What is the difference d15b and d15b2
well hopefully you can just use the dpfi setup from the old motor, the tranny should just bolt together with no problems, although im thinking you may have to change the shift linkage. anyway good luck with it.
