Sub question

My latest problem in dealing with my system.. I got every thing working nothing cuts out now but my sub has no real punch to it the thing just bassicly vibrates every thing. Its a Pioneer 450watt 10" sub in the el cheapo walmart box (im replacing soon i hope) powerd by a RockfordFosgate 501x amp. Would changing the box to some thing better remove all the vibrating and give me some real punch or is it the sub. My friend has the same box but has a Jensen 450watt 10"sub and it has alittle punch but doesnt vibrate the whole truck.

Any suggestions on what to do

If i build my own would a 1'wx1'Lx'1h work that would give me 1cubic foot of airspace (yes i know to take into acount for material width)

Re: Sub question

Don't buy that sub that your thinkin about. I've looked at them and thought about them myself and they ain't worth what your putting into them. If you don't wanna spend the big money for a good Rockford sub(power stage 1) them atleast up it to the stage 2 or 3 or the HX2.

Remember to take into account the sub's displacement. So for a 1cf box, you often have to build a 1.15 or 1.2cf box, and then the sub's suspension/motor/basket takes away about .2cf to bring the box size back down to what you want.

And personally I would stop looking at the best buy/circuit city subs and go for something a little better. If you don't like the way yours sounds, why move to another brand in the same class that isn't any better instead of actually upgrading?

Re: Sub question

I personally like Audiobahn. They hit hard and sound good. The Alum12 are my favorites.

And yes its a 4 channel amp i have it bridged on the rear channel with it set on low pass so it only gets low, on another note i turned down the gain on it and it sounds alot better i think i had it almost at full
