Re: I wanna paint my dash trim body color! Huh.

First thing...manual to automatic is change the tranny. Well that is the simple answer to be honest with you it might not be possible. Usually you have to do ALOT for that modification. Like possible computer changes. Add a cluthc pedal, master cylinder, lines....it goes on. Best thing to do would be talk to someone that is very experienced with those cars. I would hit up one of the mechanics at your local Dodge dealership and ask a few questions.

The interior of my car...that depends on which part. The radio mount took about 20 hours of fabrication. Most of that time was machining the aluminum for the radio. Paint time was about 8 hours after modifing and smoothing. The hatch I have about 40 or 50 hours in. I am about to build new door panels that are mostly fiberglass with Focal three way set in each door and a 7" video monitor in each door. I am considering doing the hatch over to fit a motorized 10" monitor and two NOS bottles. I can send you pics of that stuff underconstruction once I start on it.

I have been a professional car audio guy (installer, salesman, manager and shop owner) for going on 16 years. I currently own a fabrication shop that is located in my backyard. 1500 sq ft with about 200k in toolling.

Re: I wanna paint my dash trim body color! Huh.

damn, damn, damn, I really need experience. I can't believe how much you know. You have been one of the few peeps who actually knows whats hes talking bout in these forums, lol. Thanks for answering my question, I really appreciated. If your gonna send me pics, plz send them to [email protected]
Can you also tell me what courses did you take to teach you a lot of the things you know. I want to take it as a proffession, plus my A+ and Networking Certifications. Im gonna be going for my certification while still in high school!!! isn't that cool.
Im taking classes next year in A+ and Networking, plus my regular academics. Hopefully after I get out of high school. I'll have a real good job, but like I said, I want to take up things in cars. I want to learn a lot, but just reading in the internet only helps to an extent. Plz tell me what courses will help me learn about car systems, customizing enclosures, engine work, and u know, the rest. I would really appreciated.
Thank you

Re: I wanna paint my dash trim body color! Huh.

I used the krylon fusion for my plastics, it's great for the plastics, no peeling at all, if it gets dirty, just wipe it clean, sprays on smooth and has a nice shine...

Re: I wanna paint my dash trim body color! Huh.

Fusion is a nice paint and works well. I don't use it because 99% of the stuff I paint is part fiberglass and part plastic. Also I want a very deeep look to the pieces like the cars finish.

Re: I wanna paint my dash trim body color! Huh.

so u saying that when is plastic, I should wash the platic parts first, then sand them, then put the prime coat, then sand again, then put the paint coats, then clear, then dry. Plz tell me if thats rights, for when u do plastics? One thing that has me confused is that if when I paint them, should I use krylon fusion, or duplicolor for plastic. How many coats of each should I do. What is the proper technique when painting plastics, i need ur advice
