Air Conditioning Question

Early this week I bought a can of AC refigerant with oil just for a recharge of my AC. The AC blew cold before I did this but just slightly warmer then last year. well after I added the Can it seems to have gotten warmer with the extra refigerant. Is this normal or could there be to much refrigerent in there? its a 91 with a conversion to r134a and it has a new compressor and parts. Thanks.

without checking the hi and lo side pressures, you could have easily put too much in.

When you converted did you use the Interdynamic 134 deat kit where all you do is release the old freon and put in some new oil and 134 refrigerant??? if so, you could have killed your compressor by oil starvation.

so the additional refrigerant could have made your pressures too high.

It was done by the previous owner a few years ago.. today it seemed pretty cool... so either its to much or maybe just crappy refrigerant. the compress as i said it new and is quiet.

Too much will cause it to blow warm. The system relies on pressure differences to work. If the entire system is crammed it does not work. Check your pressures. You could blow a hose or a shaft seal on the comp. I do not believe that you have any big problems yet. Good Luck.

If you overcharge your system it will blow warm. Also if the pressure builds up in the system too much it will blow out the high pressure relief valve which is there to prevent damaging the compressor.
