Weird idle problem..
Ok I just got my car back today. I had blown a head gasket and had a v-tec head at home so went ahead and had the guy put on my Y8 head. New gasket all around, new water pump, timing belt, and adjustable cam gear. Well It runs pretty good (don't have a v-tec controller yet) Well it will idle fine for a min then the next min it will be at like 2500-3000. What the crap is this? I was thinking vac. hose leak but I don't know.
Also with the Y8 head on my A6 bottom end am I suppose to retard or advance the timing on the cam gear any?

Re: Weird idle problem..
Make sure your throttle cable is not over tightened.

Re: Weird idle problem..
Fast idle valve maybe? I know I had a similar problem that was only resolved by replacing the FIV and TPS.
Check all your vac hoses - but for that high an idle, it's questionable |
