Question Brake Problem?

I bought a 2002 320i a couple of days ago. When I pressed the brake softly and right before it stopped, there was a jerky move with a "bump" noise coming from the back of the car. However, this did not happen if I press the brake hard. The front brake pads were just replaced before I purchased the car and I am not sure if it is a brake problem.

Can someone help?

Thanks.

Re: Brake Problem?

the "bump", "thud" noise is probably the front control arm bushings, they "wear" quickly on E46's.

Re: Brake Problem?

I went to three dealers' service departments, and eventually found that it is a transmission problem. A part under warranty will be replaced.

Thanks for Jefferyb4me's reply
