get some ad markers by chartpak. get: warm grey 1-10, cool grey 1-10: these accentuate and tint glass, earth, etc, everything.
frost blue, light blue, pale indigo, cobalt -these cover metal, glass, and sky.
get: light sand, maize, black, pale cherry, brick red, sand, suntan: these will cover leather, skin, earth.
use a napkin or cosmetic sponge to smear colors for gradations. pure pigment cannot achieve subtle f/x of glass and metal.
get an airbrush. use gouache/acrylic highly diluted to create subltle f/x with light glinting off metal and head/taillights.
next: get the same or similar equivalent colors, all of them, in prismacolor marker.
you should have a set of chartpak ad's, and a set of prismacolor markers as standard-fare.
then get a set of tria markers of same or equivalent colors. why all of these? --texture, quality/feel of nibs, color variations, pigment variety across different manufacturers.
learn to do mixed media, mixed marker drawings. you will find the chartpaks excellent for broad, juicy sky coverages but shit for details. prismacolors are great for details like on tires and bumpers, but shit for glass and broad sky vistas.
good luck..
