Question Intake manifold gasket replacement question...

I had the dreaded coolant leak at the intake maifold, and now have it all apart and cleaned up.

Can anyone who's done this tell me if I put the RTV on the gaskets also or ONLY the ridges at the end of the block?

The Haynes manual says to put a bead on the block side of the gasket I think, but the picture shows paper gaskets.

The FelPro kit are the plastic and rubber type, so I'm unsure if I should put RTV on the actual gaskets???

The Fel Pro kit has no directions with it either, hence why I'm confused.

Any tips would be appreciated!

thanks

Re: Intake manifold gasket replacement question...

haynes recomends putting some on block side to hold gaskets in place.
if you got a good set with plastic base and rubber rings around openings don't worry about it just put on front and rear block make sure you get into the corners by the heads .
