I need Help with a RPM Limiter

:flash:

I have a 1996 Cavilier 2.2 and I race it on a Round track, but the limiter kills me on the stretch. how do I get rid of it or increase it without major engine work

well i think you have to take it to a mechanic i think for that. to get a performance chip. but your RPMs are already high i have a 2000 sunfire gt 5 speed and there at 4500-5000 RPMs when i am goin 170km. i think it will be hard on your engine. and pocket book too lol

the 2.2 isn't a high rpm motor... your best bet is to swap in a 2.3L HO from a grand am, berretta etc... or if you're really lucky swap in a W41... than all your rev needs and lack of power issues will be addressed. 7000 redline? yeh.. it's pretty cool .

for a chip.. are you allowed to use a stand alone engine management? or possibly a piggyback computer?

I know there's a couple out there.. like the Unichip (piggyback) and TEC-III (stand alone)

Re: I need Help with a RPM Limiter

do the VSS bypass mod and use an aftermarket speedometer to keep track if you need or want to. no limiter if the computer cant see how fast you are going.

Doh, just re-read, to get the RPM the chip is going to have to be reprogrammed. Some of the guys on the ORG or V6Z24 were working on this a while ago to move or eliminate the rev limiter, but be warned, you most likely will grenade your motor.
