I own a 2001 I-30 and have recently become a huge fan of Sirius satellite radio. Of course, the '01 I-30 did not come sat-ready, but is now offered in the I-35 factory stereo stack.
I have asked my dealer several times about purchasing a stock I35 system and putting it into my I30 so I can have "built-in" satellite radio instead of my aftermarket Audiovox unit (and all of its wires floating around the car). Of course, since this is not a recommended activity, they play dumb and say it can't be done. But it "appears" that the I-35 unit would fit quite nicely in the I-30 and have a finished look to it. Questions for those of you who are smarter than my local dealer: 1) Can this, in fact, be done? 2) Where might one buy a factory 2002-2004 I-35 Bose system, other than the dealer (a link to websites would be helpful). 3) Are there any potential problems to doing this? Thanks in advance for your help! |

Radio
Greetings,
I can't give you specific answers to your questions but I wish you luck with the install if you go forward. It won't be cheap. You should be able to buy the basic radio from an Infiniti dealer, maybe a Nissan dealer. The Infiniti I30/I35s and the Nissan Maxima share some parts. If I can find the link to an Internet Infiniti dealer I'll add it to this post. Have you tried any of your local radio installers? They might be able to assist you with an install. In my area there are a couple of places that will work on your car, with your parts, and charge you their hourly rate. Okay, I found the link. Try "www.nissaninfinitigmcparts.com" (Omit the quotes.) They claim to offer factory parts at wholesale prices. Good luck. Post your results on the forum. Regards, Shortimer
