97 elantra change stock car stereo
I have a 97 elantra and i am trying to take out the stock stereo. i have gotten everything off expect the molding around the stereo. There seems to be something pulling to molding back in place, it seems to be connected to the ac/heat knob.
OK I FOUND OUT HOW TO REMOVE THE MOLDING AROUND THE STEREO, BUT HERES THE PROBLEM ITS A VERY TIGHT SPACE. THERE ARE EIGHT SCREWS THAT I HAVE TO REMOVE THEY HOLD THE AC/HEATER, FAN SPEED CONTROLS ECT. TO THE MOLDING AROUND THE STEREO. BUT ITS VERY HARD TO GET IN THERE AND TAKE OUT THE SCREWS. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME INSIGHT ON HOW TO MAKE THIS ANY EASIER. PLEASE HELP.

you are correct it connects to the hvac system
look under the let snd right side of the center console you will see cables connescting it to the heater box . look up and under the dash .

there is no easy way you need to remove the center piece . on the left side get a light and look under the dash twards the center console you will see 2 black cables with eyelets on them . there is a silver retaning clip you need to pull the black cable from the clip and remove the eye from the posy on the air box do this for both cables now your ho,e free the center piece will come out ,
the only thing that may be easier is i thnk bestbuy or circuit city does free install with purchase . but try and do it yourself its not as hard as it looks
