Service Engine Light came on today
Greetings,
Got the "service engine" light today as I pulled into my driveway. My '02 I35 has 20,200 miles on it and has received the best of care. Anyone know if this light could be triggered just by mileage? I'll be taking the car into the Infiniti dealer on Thursday for the recall on the "crank sensor" thing. If the light is still on I'll have them look at it. I won't be happy if the service engine light is gonna light up based soley on mileage. I'll post a follow-up once I know what caused this. Anyone else get the recall letter for the crank sensor? Regards, |

Re: Service Engine Light came on today
I got it the notice 3 months ago and the dealer took care of it. My '02 has not had the engine light come on yet and just turned 35k.

Tuesday
Thanks for the info about the "recall." My dealer was too busy to look at my car before Tuesday, June 8th. I'll know more by the end of the day and will post a follow-up.

I have a 97 i30 as well and I had 2 o2 sensors go out and the light came on as well, the car also sputtered and ran like crap, easy fix though.

Oxygen Sensors
Greetings,
My '02 I35 went in for the "recall" on the crankshaft sensor as well as the "service engine" light problem. The light was NOT triggered by the faulty crankshaft sensor. The technician told me he replaced two oxygen sensors and re-programmed the computer. It seems the dealer is replacing quite a few of these oxygen sensors on I35s, G35s and Q45s. He also mentioned that Nissan Maximas and the new 350Z have similar problems with oxygen sensors. Sounds to me like a bad batch of sensors. The 350Z also has the recall for the crankshaft sensor as well. The car was repaired in under two hours and I'm a happy camper. It was all covered under warranty. Regards, Shortimer |
