Good race last night with an EVO

I was heading into newark when I saw an blue EVO like 5 cars up at a red light. It took me about a mile after the light to get up behind him, finally got up behind him and stuck my nose into his left side mirror so he could see my intercooler and I saw him smile and then he just drops it (suprised me) i was like shit and dropped it but couldnt get on his ass in time because of traffic, so I caught up to him again and got back on his ass and I smiled at him cause I was ready. He was riding the ass of the car in front of him and I noticed it was clear from there. Finally the lady in front of him moved and I hit 2nd and he goes. I was behind him until about 7000 rpm in third when i swung right and got up next to him at the 3/4 and pulled a pender on him @ like 100 then I stopped. I was suprised because I didnt think I was gonna pull a slingshot on him like I did. He was pretty suprised too when we came to another light he started talking to me. At least he wasnt a bad loser and game me some praise. Im so glad I finally got my ECU and the car is running good but I dont think I have but another 1000 miles left on my clutch so if I would of raced from a dead stop I would of been toast

...they may be "monsters" but i dont think they can compare to the evo's over here...im not trying to be an a*shole or anything like "your evo's are shitty our evo's are better" but doesnt mitsubishi downplay the performance of the evo distibuted in the states compared to the ones that are distributed in Japan...you guys should come here and see some of the EvO III's that people have driving around...

The US almost always gets screwed when it comes to getting high-performance cars from Japan. Took forever to get the EVO, STi, and someday we're supposed to get the Skyline over here (around 2007 is the last i read). But at least they're starting to make it over here, even if they are slightly detuned. Although, isn't the STi we get here stronger than the one in Japan? I may be wrong though.

yeah i thought the sti and evo were better here? due to a slight redesign for shipment or something? I thought it was like 10 hp or something more than the japanese one? or maybe it was a better drivetrain? i dunno i remember something though.

lol..."can you still hear or notice your vtec with the turbo ?? "

Fuckin right you can, If my clutch wasnt slippin bad I would probably break em loose just by pushing the gas in 2nd gear and I gotta LSD and long gears.
The VTEC in my car is just like a non-turbod car....loud as hell

Re: Good race last night with an EVO

It just kicks in, especially if im going like 40 in third and I just open it up. Im gonna play with the engagement, see what happens if I engage VTEC at like 4800 or 5000.....If anything im sure it sounds tight
