Unhappy 97 loss of power

i have a 97 taurus when the car warms up i can cruise at about 30mph
if i aply more gas rpm race but car remain a a low speed what the hell is wrong? please help

Try putting the car in low gear or #1. As you start to drive shift the gear selector up a gear one at a time till you get to overdrive. How does it feel like its pulling? If the RPM race when you push the gear shift into overdrive at 45mph you might have a non lock up converter problem. Have you had the car computer scaned for codes by Autozone or some other parts place? most dont charge. Let us know. Watch for blown fuses.

I had a same situation after my son drove my 97 Taurus twice. Because I heard that the control system is a " smart learn iteslf system", yesterday, I disconnected the positive cable (red) from the batteray, then put it back 10 mins later. The problem has not shown up yet. Please let us know what happened after you try it.

try to disconnect the positive cable (red one) from the battery.
