some help with driving would be appreciated:)

hi, i have been driving now for about a half a year, and have just got my license (i live in england btw).

The main two things i was gonna ask about have probably been answered in some form already (in fact im sure of it) but it owuld be great to have a little personaly feedback.

right. being 17 and all my car is not a speed demon; its a peugeot 306, with approx 75 horsepower.

is it possible to do a short burnout say at a traffic light with this hp in a front wheel drive car? if so detailed instructions would be muchly appreciated! i know burnouts are not the way to get a great launch, and screw up your tires, but id like to know how to do these things anyway. and be told rather than ytrying to find out for myself and breaking my car!

ok how would you suggest a fast (relative lol) launch with this car. i need stuff like: drop the clutch what does this mean exxactly? revv and then instantly let the clutch out?) or feather the clutch. same info required.


any comments would be helpful, thanks!

FWD burnouts are simpel to do.
1. Stop car.
2. Apply e-brake
3. Rev engine to high degree.
4. Let the clutch fly out.
5. Watch the smoke or smell the clutch (depending on if the clutch gives up before the tires).

so if i just let the clutch completely out instantly the car wont stall?

i have no idea about these things, as my driving instructor or parent arent exactly willing to try. b

btw please dont think im just doing these things for show i understand it is not how to get a good racing start, i would just like to know how this stuff works.

if you let your clutch instantly and you are ON THE GAS ... it will not stall You need to be on on throttle - see #3 above.

first way to be fast.... im assuming you live in europe

get rid of the peugot, and get a renault or an opel \an r5 turbo is a really good start out car

id love to, honestly i would... but unfortunately the insurance would be sky high for an just passed 18 yr old.

ill just concentrate on first learnign how to shift fasdt, how to enter/exit corners etc.

acually a good and easy way to get the front tires spinning with a no-torque FWD is go to a junk yard and get some donuts (spare tires) they should be pretty cheap and replace your front tires with them and believe it or not youll prolly have to be careful NOT to light them up.

Yeah, with a car with such little horsepower, rev nearly to redline and thenm just drop the clutch as fast as you can. That's probably the best way to launch with 75hp.
