I am the one that had the 2002 Elantra that the engine blew up at only 27000 miles and I had all my reciepts to prove my oil changes the car is only 1year and 8 months old so it did not make since why this happened to start with. Well thay say thay replaced the engine the car has 29000 miles on it now and the valves are clattering very bad we took it Hattiesburg Hyndia and the service manager told us nothing was wrong it was normal to clatter until the parts were broke in and that normally takes 3000 miles after thay replaced them. It all seems a little crazy to me. Thay did not even check the car out all thay did is look under the hood for about a minute or two and that was all. Can someone please tell me if this makes since? Also the car does not have power like it did before. HELP............PLEASE...........Before thay would even replace the engine we had to agree to let them go ahead and do what thay called a 30000 servive which cost us 410.98 we were told if we did not agree to this we would not get our engine replaced.

Re: Valve clattering 2002 Elantra
This is what I was complaining about earlier. I have an 04 GT and the motor was smooth as glass and very quiet when I picked it up. Around 1,000 miles it started chattering bad. I took it to the dealer and described it as sounding worse than a Cummins Diesel. They told me that it was normal after break-in on a dual overhead cam/variable valve timing motor. I said Bull$hit. I figured if the motors blows these jerkoffs will have to replace it.
Did they ask you to do the 30K maintenance before or after the new motor? Before??? Questionable ethics, after??? Pure bull$hit. Find another dealer. I bought the extended bumper to bumper warranty, I'm glad I did. My seat is broke, my radio FM receiption is poor, 3 door panels rattle bad, and the motor sounds like $hit, all of which I have an appoint ment to repair during my 3K service at "Another dealer". Re: Valve clattering 2002 Elantra
I had my car serviced on Friday. The clattering was not the valves. I had one belt overtightened and one too loose. Motor is now as quiet as day one.
Also I was complaining about the door panels rattling. The dealer installed dynamat between the panels and doors. Now not only the rattles are gone but the car is soo much more quite at crusing speed. The other previous complaints I had...They ordered a new drivers seat and the radio's receiption seems to improved. I am now a lot happier with my purchase. Jason |
