Driver's side door needs tighten?

I have a 2000 2500 which I love exept for the driver's side door that has a lot of wind noise! It appears to be loose not a tight seal any way to tighten the door or do I need to put more weather stripping. the door also rattles at the latch when I hit a bump so the door appears to be loose. When I compare the drivers door to the passenger side door there is a big difference the passenger door is nice and tight, I hope this dosen't mean the truck has been wreck, any input would be nice

several possiblities

check the weatherstrip for damage, rips, matted flat

open door and lift up on bottom to check if door hinges are worn (will need to replace pins and bushings in hinge)

rattle over bumps could be worn door hinges or loose window regulator bolts (have seen this on several truck including my own)

Besides all of the above, check the door latch mechanism. It too may be loose or rusted. Has it been this way since you got it? It bothers be that you said that the passenger door is nice and tight and the drivers side isn't. If you're not the original owner, I'm thinking that it might have been in a wreck.

i just had that happen with my driver side door on the buick. it was loud, and the door never looked like it was shut all the way. there was a gap about 1/4 of an inch. it was pretty simple fix, maybe it'll help you. open the door that has the problem, and look for the latch on the door post. it should be what the door is actually latching onto. shake it to see if it is tightned. if it is not, find the correct tip, (i think its like a 6 pt star tip), and tighten it down. then shut the door, to see if the gap is gone. (if u have a gap) or just take it out for a spin. i took mine to some back roads, and up to speed to see if the wind/road noise was less. its not quiet as the day it rolled off the lot. i hope this helps. send me an email and let me know how it goes. check the hinges on the door,look hard now. Do you notice scratched paint or durt and grime that has been moved, (yes)-(no)
Yes, get a wrench out and check to see if the bolts are loose. If sow move door back it to the normal positoin and tighten them up.

No, then it is your striker bolt ,center of the in rear door fraim ,tighten this up, Leaking ,,,, i would loosen then tighten a little then give it a tapp to move it in a little at a time .
If the door is hanging down Or it slipped while you were makeing adjustments put a 2x4 between the cab and the lower door fraim and have someone lift it while you reset the door to the cab openning.

Nowing how to do this will have friends in your shop all day.
