98 Buick Century, Everything quits
My daughter has a 1998 Buick Century. She can be driving it and everything quits except the motor. The brakes don't work, can't steer car, lights go out. But the motor is srill running. I have seen a lot of wierd things but this cuts the cake. Any ideas, other than putting it out of our missury.

I would guess it is a bad ignition switch, or wiring related to it.

Re: 98 Buick Century, Everything quits
when you say cant steer, do you mean, no power steering, or the steering wheel locks, as if the car is parked?
Like Shrocat said, sounds like an ignition switch so far. Prepare for a costly repair bill.

It appears that the steering wheel is locking up as if the ignition was turned off. Also the brakes don't seem to work according to my daughter, she says when you hit them nothing happens. I was leaning towards the ignition switch also. Just hoping it might be something easy to fix.

Well the car is no longer with us, it belongs to a dealer now. It is their problem now.
