What can be done? 1991 1840 GTI 16v

Hi,

I have just picked up a nice little motor. Got it cheap, been garaged all its life so I want to bring it up to spec.

Its a 1991 323F 1840 16v GTI. I couldnt resist the lotus-style pop-up headlights.

Just wondering what the essential upgrades are for this motor? And what are the "desirable" upgrades? I will do anything except an engine swap.

Anyone know of good body kits for this in the UK?

One last question, i'm looking to get speed-pulse signal, where and how can I get it. I know it should be on pin-1 on the instrument panel, but how do I safely and easily gain access and is there an easier pick-up point?
