Well a 1.3L dual rotor rotary technically displaces 2.6L, the 3 rotor about 3.9L (making the power they can make less dramatic).

The seals are the weak point, even people with stock motors have problems sometimes.

My biggest problem is the FC3 is such a beautiful car, but when it's fast it has the absolute worst exhaust note in the history of automobiles.

The Turbo II was a factory 5.5sec 0-60mph car....quite impressive even today. Problem is finding nice ones.

Re: Re: worth the money?

2.6L uses two rotor faces each cycle.

I wouldnt say the worst exhaust note just... err... Funky. my friend with the FC has a vent to atmosphere wastegate, whenever it opens up it gets twice as loud... everyone says it sounds like somethings about to break.

Are your sure it's not venting the blow-off valve?

nah its the wastegate it just vents out of a pipe under the car. its to help ward off boost creep... (altough he still gets creep when he runs high boost). It makes the car loud ass hell but sounds sweet.

fast

the rx looks amazing from the outside but dated on the inside and they sound unreliable, tricky to work with and expensive to repair, so i think im going with my original choice of the 240, i think, its just tried and true so yeah, plus this will be a daily driver so i need to be able to start and go, but i will always think about the rx i could have had.

wastegate

sorry if this is a dumb question but, if the wastegate is open then, its not connected to the exhast manifold right? wouldnt that add alot of haet to the engine bay and make the car run a little weird due to the fact it dosent have a turbo manifold?

Re: worth the money?

yeah, thats the cool thing about rotary engines, the block is so small and it can put out a lot of hp. Its almost the same size engine as the geo metros.
R.W.240 if ur just about hp and liter, than u got to think "outside the box". rx-7's have 1.3 liter and ive seen one with turbo and everything else stock beat a skyline. There;s many different factors that make a car good, not just hp and liters.

lucki17 if u want a good dependable car u wanna go for the 240sx.l There much easier to maintain than the rx-7's rotary if u dont mess with it too much. But ka24 has is bigger and lasts longer cuz its a good engine. sr20 has turbo so it can wear out faster.

Its a 2.6L. The power the Rotary makes is still impressive but it sure as hell isnt a 1.3L

The wastegate is connected to the exhaust manifold it just doesnt return to the exhaust after the Turbo it vents trough a small pipe somewhere behind the Right Front Wheel not in the engine bay. so when it opens it sounds like a car that just cut the exhaust off after the downpipe.

Re: worth the money?

dude have u seen the freakin engine?, its small ive read official articles and what not from the makers of the rx-7 and rx-8, the history of em, and my cousins work on rotary engines. IT'S A 1.3L. Thats one of the features about the engine, since its small they could have more stuff in the engine bay. Now, I'll ask my cuz, prob ur right, but if this is fo sho, and u can definitely prove me wrong by having the jap mechanic talk to me and say its 2.6L than that would be cool to know

"Now we know, the 13B compare well to a 2.6L 4-cylinder 4-cycle engine"

The last sentence in the article.... it helps to read the shit that you post. And by read, I mean fully understand, not just pick up a word here or there, and take it out of context. Nice link though. :P
